Updates

OK, so I finally added links to the pics in the posts below. Click and enjoy!

Insomnia

Man, my scheduled is still whacked. Here I am, Friday morning at 4am, unable to sleep for the last hour. So, since I haven't been able to make any updates any other time this week, here goes.

Disclaimer: I'm probably still half-asleep, so who knows how much sense I'll be making here.

Most of you reading this regularly know that I've been working for a very large software company the last couple of months. I'm still getting adjusted to the environment and the different schedule (I'm scheduled 9-6, but I'm used to working 6-4; go figure). Thus far, it's been a very educational experience, and let me tell you how excited I am to be working again. But you probably already knew that.

However, because of a certain incident, I've been reluctant to post anything here that even remotely relates to work, and I've certainly not been doing any posting while on the job. Thus, my time window to jot updates is very, very small. There's very little chance that "big brother" is really watching, but I'm just not taking any chances. Unemployment is not that much fun after having gone through it once.

Tomorrow is the annual trip to the Neil Sperry All-Garden Show in Arlington. Last year I scored a big hit with Anna when I bought her 14 cubic yards of topsoil/compost mix for her gardens. Who knew she'd love a massive pile of smelly stuff as a Valentine's Day present?

At any rate, I'm sure we'll be getting more compost this year, just not in this large a quantity.

Edification

Just a few quick updates for the weary. I'm horribly behind in some of the posts I planned to put here. Check back soon for links to pics. Maybe this coming weekend...

2/7/04 - Texas Rangers Season Ticket Holder Festival at the Ballpark in Arlington
We went, it was very, very cold, but we got autographs from Jeff Zimmerman, Mark Teixera, and Hank Blalock. Also got some nice pics in and around the Ballpark, including throwing from the visitor's bullpen and running the bases.

2/14/04 - I'm dreaming of a white Valentine's Day
We never get a white Christmas in Dallas, so of course we expect a white Valentine's Day. We woke up to 7 inches of snow, and before the morning was out, we had received another inch. We took the dogs out to play and they chased snowballs all morning. In true Texas fashion, though, all the snow was gone by the next day, and a week later temps are in the 70's.

2/22/04 - Gardens and Green Chili
We spent the entire weekend working in the garden area, adding two new raised bed areas for Anna to fill with growing things, moving grape plants, and clearing out a bunch of the undergrowth. And if that wasn't exciting enough, I discovered that the Green Chili CD is finally available on Apple's iTunes Music Store, BuyMusic.com, MusicMatch.com, and Napster.com. Unfortunately, there's a problem with the encoding of the first track, so all of the sites are missing the opening song from the CD, but I don't plan on selling any more physical CDs at this point. Viva la musica electronica!
