Australia

Yes, it's been about two months since the last post. Honestly, I've been crazy busy getting ready for this trip to Australia. I had an opportunity to help out a friend in Sydney and speak at a couple of events happening here, so we took the opportunity to make our first big overseas trip together. Lots and lots of stuff happening, but I wanted to get a few pics of the trip online as soon as I could, so, here they are...

Everyone has to have a picture taken with a Koala. This normally calm and low-energy creature can pull some surprising moves, and I was momentarily afraid for my life.

Up in the Blue Mountains area west of Sydney is a formation known as the Three Sisters. Unfortunately, clouds were thick in this area, so we couldn't see all three, but here I am in front of one of the Sisters, the one you could see.

The Darling Harbour area of Sydney is a beautiful open-air area with lots of landscaping and water features. Here I am in front of one of the many ground fountains around the harbour area.

Learning some of the Aussie lingo has been interesting. One place we went advertised being able to partake in the "swinging of the billy" and sharing some "billy tea." We think this is not what they meant by "swinging a billy."

The Sydney Aquarium was pretty slick. It had a fabulous exhibit on the Great Barrier Reef, including a section where you could walk through the exhibit in what I call the "peoplequarium" so the fish could come by and learn all about the interesting and bizarre habits of this strange species.

Of course, we hit the beach. I had to put my feet into the southern Pacific ocean to see if water "down under" was any different than anywhere else I've been to the beach. Well, it was cold. Not that you can tell from here.

That's all the time I've got to post now, but there will be more later. I've been keeping very good notes about the trip so we can keep the memories for a long, long time.
