Microsoft Office 2004 AutoUpdate ran this morning and caught the Office 11.2.1 update, which was released yesterday. This update is primarily an Entourage update, but given my proclivity to work with Entourage in an SBS environment, so I dug right into it.
The Entourage update relates to potential issues with synchronization to an Exchange server introduced in the SP2 update for Office 2004.
So far, I have not noticed any performance issues after installing the 11.2.1 update, but then I didn’t notice any negative issues with the SP2 update. In fact, I found that my performance with all the Office apps increased significantly, especially when launching the apps.
My recommendation: go ahead and install this update. If you haven’t installed the SP2 update for Office 2004, you need to get that installed as well.
A saviour’s website! My comment isn’t directed at this post but is rather a question for you. Your steps for joining a Mac OSX client to SBS saved me!
The challenge now is to overcome the proxy authentication issues. Do you have tools / steps to allow Mac client software (like iTunes) to access the web given they can’t natively authenticate with ISA 2004’s proxy service?
I have researched everywhere and found a couple of tools - Authoxy and aps098. No matter what I did I couldn’t get the latter to work properly. I have Authoxy somewhat working but it intermittent at best at allowing iTunes and Software Update to access the net.
Is there a way to avoid client authentication all together for the Mac client and ISA 2004? even if it is part of the AD domain? Any guidance - clear tools, steps would be greatly appreciated!
