Publishing Timbuktu through ISA 2004
ByI’ve been asked a couple of times now about publishing Timbuktu through ISA 2004. More than once is enough for me to post it here.
Follow these steps to publish Timbuktu to an internal client through ISA 2004 (note that this will only provide access to one internal computer for Timbuktu, not every system that is running Timbuktu on the internal network):
- Open the ISA Management Console (Start | All Programs | Microsoft ISA Server | ISA Server Management)
- Expand the server name, then select Firewall Policy.
- Select the Tasks tab in the right-hand pane.
- Click Create New Server Publishing Rule.
- Enter the name of the server publishing rule (i.e., Timbuktu) and click Next.
- Enter the IP address of the internal workstation running Timbuktu and click Next.
- In the Select Protocol page of the wizard, click New.
- In the New Protocol Definition Wizard, enter the name of the protocol (i.e. Timbuktu) and click Next.
- In the Primary Connection Information page, click New.
- Select TCP for Protocol Type, Inbound for Direction, and enter 407 for the From and To port range, then click OK.
- In the Primary Connection Information page, click Next.
- In the Secondary Connections page, select No, then click Next.
- Click Finish to close the New Protocol Definition Wizard.
- The new protocol should show in the Selected protocol drop-down menu. Click Next.
- Enable the checkbox next to External and click Next.
- Click Finish to close the wizard.
- Click Apply to save changes and enable the new settings.
You should now be able to access the internal computer using Timbuktu from the external network.
